BUOYANCY

Attention ALL Wayfarers

Following a recent incident it is necessary to ACTIVELY encourage ALL Wayfarers to ensure that the buoyancy on their boat is checked and is satisfactory as laid down in the Wayfarer Class Rules.

Those racing should realise that without a current buoyancy endorsement they will be disqualified. Much more importantly, with the boat in a capsized state, the resources required to recover it may be outside those that can be reasonable expected to be allocated for the incident.

Those cruising should realise that they may have NO external resources available to assist them.

A non-buoyant boat is almost impossible to recover in the event of a capsize.
