Wayfarer Racing Sunday 15th November 2009 (race report by Phil Powell)
Another windy day with a south-westerly F4/F4 and Five Wayfarers readied for action. No hold ups and not too many Enterprises about to spoil the start. Half n’ Half and Whaleshark start at the pin end the others spread out towards the platform. Everyone makes for the far side of the main channel for the first mark Chris Somner, with Silver Greyhound hugging close to the island and the rest spread out between the main channel and the island. No Name Hartley is having another fast race and is soon in the lead and rounds the windward mark first followed by Silver Greyhound and Half n’ Half, Vola Vola and Whaleshark. On to No.28 and Princecroft Willis with no change in position. With No Name Hartley well out to lead, the rest of the field see them sailing high or can they be going for Sandermans. Well it’s a test for those that favour the follow the leader strategy, and there are no takers as the rest of the field head for the correct mark Marine Tax Café. Surely No Name Hartley must be asking where everyone one else is as they round Sandeman’s and on to complete the lap. Silver Greyhound rounds Marine Tax Café closely followed by Half n’ Half and at some distance Volva Vola and Whaleshark. Belatedly No Name Hartley almost having completed the lap realises the mistake and heads back to Tax Café to take up the Tail- end Charlie position.
New Hartley Wayfarer Mk IV
Through the finish line to complete the first round and its on to Chris Somner again, with Silver Greyhound extending the lead to round comfortably first, followed at some distance by Half n’ Half and the rest of the field jockeying for position. Half n’ Half raises the kite and makes ground, but all to no avail as Silver Greyhound rounds Marine Tax Café for the last time and finishes comfortably in the lead with Half n’ Half in second.
A battle royal is in progress with both Whaleshark and No Name Hartley overtaking Vola Vola at the last mark. Whaleshark then holds off a strong challenge by No Name Hartley to take a well deserved third place.

Parkstone Wayfarer Winter Series
Sunday 8th November 2009 (race report by Phil Powell)
A grey stormy day with a howling northerly F5/6 banshee and flat tide greet those keen racers. With the previously three Sundays having been abandoned due either too much or too little wind, it would have to be really bad weather to stop these racers . Four Wayfarers readied for action in the howling wind but only three decided to go forth, Silver Greyhound deciding that it was too cold, wet & windy. Out to the start and great no Enterprises, Fireballs or showing up – so a Wayfarer only start. All three boats prefer the pin end to start with the No-Name Haley making a good start followed by Half n’ Half and Whaleshark. No-Name makes the the first mark, John Pipe, first followed closely by Half n’ Half. Onto a broad reach to Picaddily with Half n’ Half making some progress in catching up with No-Name and in the last hundred yards Whaleshark makes up on Half n’ Half. No-Name rounds first and heads in the general direction of Ro-Ro followed by Half n’ Half and not far away Whaleshark making good progress. Half n’ Half decides to tack leaving Whaleshark to follow No-Name. Its still the same order round Ro-Ro, Prince E and finally the finish line, on a shortened course. The new Steve Haley Hartley has its first win followed by the remainder of the field some way behind.
